ART 119Special Topics in Drawing

5 creditsUndergraduateStudent Option

Special topics in drawing as announced.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite(s): ART 15 or ART 20L or ART 20J; and two from ART 20G, ART 20H, ART 20I, ART 20K; or by permission of instructor. Enrollment is restricted to art majors.

  • Drawing in the Digital Age - This special topics studio class will be a combination of traditional/analog and digital modes, exploring the potentials of a contemporary drawing practice in a so-called “expanded field”. Does it serve to treat the analog and the digital as a binary relationship in drawing or do they offer things unique to themselves and have possibilities of complementing each other? This class will explore questions related to what constitutes a drawing/drawing practice, while building on technical, formal, and conceptual skills. Students should have some familiarity with Procreate and/or Adobe Creative Suite and access to a portable device such as an iPad which can support these programs.
