Students create novel, interesting game concepts, and outline and refine game proposals for longer-term projects. Studio projects cover a range of creative practices, including concept ideation and storyboarding, prototyping, and presenting and/or exhibiting the game idea in a more finalized form. This course focuses on team projects and collaboration. It can be taken as a single course, or can be taken as part one of the art and design: games and playable media capstone requirement, which can continue as a team-based project-design series. (Formerly ARTG 170.)
Prerequisite(s): satisfaction of the Entry Level Writing and Composition requirements. Enrollment is restricted to senior art and design: games and playable media majors.
- ARTG 170A can be counted towards either the Disciplinary Communication OR Performance/Portfolio/Exhibition requirement. Please note that this course CANNOT fulfill both requirements at the same time. All majors need a total of eight separate, 5-unit, upper division courses for a total of 40 upper division units.
