BIOE 109Evolution

An examination of the history and mechanisms of evolutionary change. Topics include molecular evolution, natural and sexual selection, adaptation, speciation, biogeography, and macroevolution.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite(s): BIOL 20A, BIOE 20B, BIOE 20C, and BIOE 106 or BIOL 105.

  • If you are taking the BIOE 20C prerequisite in Session 1, enroll in that course first, then email summer@ucsc.edu for a permission number to enroll in this course. Students enrolled in the BIOL 105 prerequisite during the 8-Week Summer Session are not eligible to enroll in BIOE 109 in Session 2.
  • UCSC Students - If you have completed the prerequisites but receive an error message, contact the department for approval to enroll at eebadvising@ucsc.edu. Provide proof of prerequisite material.
  • Visiting Students - The prerequisites review is waived in the summer. Contact summer@ucsc.edu for a permission number to enroll.
  • Enrollment in the associated discussion is mandatory.
