CMPM 179Game Design Practicum
Provides the opportunity to practice the creation of novel computer games. Students learn a new game-making technology, then create three games using this technology.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite(s): CMPM 120 and CMPM 80K.
- All students - if you completed the prerequisites but get an error message - email your proof of prerequisite material to the instructor for approval to enroll - Tad Leckman, tleckman@ucsc.edu.
- Topic: Adventure Design. Students work together in small groups to research, prototype, playtest and develop a multi-session tabletop roleplaying adventure. Adventures will share a common setting, theme, tone and ruleset. Topics explored in the course include, but are not limited to: narrative structure, encounter design, creature design, non-player characters, mapping, level design, environmental storytelling, narrative and instructional writing.
