This intensive course introduces students to Bay Area museums, their exhibition histories, and curatorial practices. Field trips allow students to have private conversations with museum curators, go behind the scenes, and engage in direct study of objects in exhibitions.

Prerequisites

Enrollment is restricted to juniors and seniors.

  • Special Session Dates: June 22-July 3
  • We will be alternating field trip days (full days) and seminar days (3-hour classes) throughout the two-week session. Students will be expected to attend every day, and keep up with reading assignments. This is an intensive course with short papers due at each class meeting.
