HAVC 175Speculative Currents: Art, Oceans, and Imagined Worlds
Explores how artists and writers use speculative forms to imagine radical futures. Focusing on Indigenous futurisms, oceanic imaginaries, and global speculative art, the course examines resistance to colonialism, climate change, gender and tech ethics, and world-building across visual media. Students analyze and discuss artworks that engage imagination, critique, and alternative visions of the past, present, and future.
