Focuses on selected topics in the history of art and visual culture. Topics vary depending on instructor.
- Winter 2026 Topic: This undergraduate seminar will focus on the role of photography in documenting, representing, and shaping the architecture of the twentieth century city. Following a historical overview of the connection between the development of photography and the growth of European and North American metropolises in the first part of the course, the seminar will pay special attention to the built environment of Los Angeles in readings and in photographic and architectural case studies.
