Explores the central role of visual communication in the ancient Greek world: the construction of social, cultural, political, and religious identities through visual material, with special emphasis on gender. Students discuss images in the public and private sphere, including temple sculptures and mythology, symposia and sexuality, athletic competitions and theatrical performances, funerary practices and magic.
