Surveys the history of African Americans from the post-Reconstruction and Jim Crow era to the present. Topics include northern and westward migration, women’s suffrage and activism, the world wars, black nationalism, the Harlem Renaissance, the Great Depression, the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements, and black activism in contemporary America. (Formerly African American History: 1877 to the Present.) Note: This course satisfies the American History and Institutions requirement.
