Course shows why the humanities matter—and why your degree can take you further than you think. Traces how the humanities grew and explores how those skills translate into exciting 21st-century careers. Students dive into big questions shaping the world now and discover how humanistic thinking helps tackle them. Students also meet alumni and explore a variety of career pathways while building professional skills that will boost them throughout their UCSC journey and beyond. By the end, students will see how their humanities background isn’t just meaningful—it’s powerful—and how it can guide them toward a career that matches their strengths, passions, and goals.

  • HIS 87H does not fulfill any History major or minor requirements, but does satisfy the campus PR-E general education requirement.
