HISC 1Introduction to History of Consciousness: Theory for all
History of Consciousness engages theory to analyze problems, act in the world, and make a real difference in our lives and those of others. Focusing on current questions such as truth, identity, aesthetics, power, technology, and ecology, we draw from social and political theory, art, philosophy, science, and cultural studies and radical intellectual traditions including feminist, Black, Latine, and queer studies. Take this course to discover and do theory through reading, mapping, storytelling, and your own lived experience. Theory is for everyone. (Formerly Introduction to History of Consciousness.)
