Introduces key aspects of the legal profession and legal aid for under-served communities. Offers practical information and training on topics such as professional responsibility, ethics, confidentiality, interviewing skills, record keeping, communication, and working with diverse clients. Designed as a preparation or companion course for law-related internships and field studies through courses such as OAKS 188B/LGST 188B (3 credits), OAKS 199, or LGST 185 Internship (5 credits).

  • Class open to all students, no instructor permission required.
  • All students - if you try to enroll and get an error message, email summer@ucsc.edu for a permission number to enroll or join the waitlist.
  • Also offered as OAKS 188A.
  • From the Instructor: Co-enrollment in LGST/OAKS 188B is strongly encouraged.
