Reading and writing proofs in mathematics. Preparation for theoretical mathematics, and particularly for MATH 100. Close reading of mathematical texts. Development of professional conventions in mathematical writing. Mathematical contexts include geometry, algebra, arithmetic, and discrete mathematics.

Prerequisites

Students cannot enroll in MATH 50 if they have previously completed MATH 100, CSE 16, CSE 101, or CSE 101M with a grade of B- or better.
