Theoretical and historical aspects of the arts from one culture or world area are explored through seminar discussion, library research, and film/video presentations.
- The course will explore the current state of documentary media: production, exhibition, context, culture, significance, and possibility. In addition to our core curriculum of viewing, reading and writing about documentary, the course will have a practical component. Students will help to stage the symposium and will be able to meet the artists/scholars whose work we will be screening, throughout the quarter and at the symposium itself. Availability to attend the entire symposium event [May 14-17] is a course requirement.
