SOCY 120Gender, Race/Ethnicity, Sexuality and Cultural Politics
Focuses on the role feminist discourses play in cultural politics emphasizing sex, sexuality, and sex work as related to gender, race , and class. Examines the relationship between academic and popular feminisms. Interrogates post-feminism, third-wave feminism, and generational differences in feminisms. Formerly Gender, Sexuality, and Cultural Politics.)
Prerequisite(s): SOCY 126 recommended. Enrollment is restricted to junior and senior sociology, critical race and ethnic studies, feminist studies, digital justice studies, global information and enterprise, and Latin America/sociology majors, proposed majors, and minors.
- This is an online class. Because SOCY 120 is designed around discussion and interactive activities, keeping your camera and audio on throughout class is a requirement of your participation in the course. If you do not have a camera-enabled computer, you may check one out from the library for each class. If you cannot commit to keeping your camera on, audio on, and log in from a location where you can use your microphone to participate, please choose a different class.
