THEA 159Advanced Playwriting

Advanced study, through writing practice, of craft elements in the construction of dramatic work for the stage. Students experiment with the construction of a full-length play and the development of their individual writing process through organization of complex plots, characters, dialogue, structures, poetics and other worldmaking tools.

Prerequisites

Prerequisite(s): THEA 157 or an equivalent from creative writing, and satisfaction of the Entry Level Writing and Composition requirements.

  • NOTE: This course requires the attendance of four plays during the quarter – two on campus, and two off campus in San Jose or SF/OAK. Please email the instructor for more information: lirollin@ucsc.edu
